I am a sole trader
You need income, expenses, capital allowances and preliminary tax brought into one return.
I am a proprietary director
You may still have a Form 11 obligation even where salary was taxed through payroll.
I have rental or other non-PAYE income
You need to confirm which return applies and report the income and eligible expenses correctly.
How ARAN prepares a Form 11
Scope the income sources
We confirm every source that belongs in the return and whether Form 11 is the correct route.
Send the matched checklist
You receive a practical list rather than a generic request for every document you own.
Prepare and reconcile
We calculate the return and compare it with the available Revenue and accounting records.
Review, file and plan
You see the result before filing and understand the payment and preliminary-tax position.
Who normally needs to file a Form 11
Revenue states that Form 11 is required for people taxed under self-assessment, proprietary directors (and the jointly assessed spouse or civil partner of one), and PAYE taxpayers whose taxable non-PAYE income is above €5,000 or gross non-PAYE income is above €30,000.
The correct return depends on the full facts. A PAYE employee with smaller additional income may use the PAYE Income Tax Return instead, while a sole trader registered for Income Tax generally files through ROS.
What goes into a reliable Form 11
- Sales or professional income and the related business records
- Allowable expenses supported by invoices and receipts
- PAYE income already taxed through payroll
- Rental, foreign, investment or other reportable income
- Pension, medical and other relief evidence where relevant
- Prior payments, RCT credits and preliminary tax
The numbers should reconcile to the underlying bank, bookkeeping and Revenue record. That review is how we find missing income, duplicate expenses, unused credits and cash-flow surprises before submission.
The filing is not the final step
We explain the tax result, payments and next year's preliminary tax position before filing. If there is tax due, you know what it relates to. If there is a refund or credit, the evidence is already organised in case Revenue asks a question.
For ongoing clients, the same records can support VAT, RCT, payroll and bookkeeping so each tax does not become a separate reconstruction exercise.
Get a checklist matched to your income sources
Tell us whether the return involves a sole trade, directorship, rent, foreign income or another source. We will confirm the records needed and the scope before you send sensitive documents.
