HELM • HELP CENTRE
Short videos and an illustrated guide to help you send documents, keep track of your account and contact the team. Come back whenever you need a hand.
01 / WATCH
Choose your format and follow at your own pace. The English video takes 1 minute and 30 seconds.
You can turn on captions in the player. The PDF includes the full step-by-step guide.
The 17-page guide includes screenshots and instructions you can follow while using the app.
02 / GET STARTED
Three simple habits to keep things organised.
Use the email address registered with ARAN and open the sign-in link you receive. Check your junk mail folder if it does not arrive.
Choose your document, check that every page is readable and wait for confirmation. Then make sure it appears in the document list.
Check the notifications, requests and deadlines shown in your account. Contact the team if something is missing.
03 / For clients
Open a question for guidance. Available options may vary depending on your account.
Helm is the app ARAN uses to make it easier to share documents and follow your accounting. Depending on the features enabled for your account, you can also create invoices, track deadlines and ask for help.
Yes. This material was prepared for people working for themselves in Ireland. It covers the main tasks in the app. Some clients see different menus depending on their service and account settings.
Check that you entered the email address registered with ARAN. Look in your inbox and junk mail folder. If the link has expired, request a new one and use the most recent email. Contact the team if you still cannot sign in.
Open Documents or Capture, depending on your account menu. Choose the relevant category, select a file or take a clear photo, then confirm the upload. Include every page without cutting off amounts, dates or document details. Wait for confirmation and check the document list.
First check which files already appear in the list. Retry only the files that are still pending. This helps avoid duplicates. If the problem continues, note the time and the error message so the team can investigate.
Received confirms that the upload arrived. Accounting review may happen later. Follow the status and any requests from the team. Ask your accountant if you need confirmation of processing.
If invoices are enabled for your account, enter your customer and item details, check the amounts and issue the invoice. Then use the available options to download the PDF or share it. Only mark an invoice as paid after confirming that you have received the money.
Not necessarily. The layout can vary with your account settings. The guide covers both Documents and Capture. A different interface name does not, by itself, change your status as a sole trader. Ask the team to check your access if a feature you need is missing.
Use deadlines and reminders to help you stay organised. They depend on your account configuration and do not replace confirming your obligations with your accountant. Let the team know if a deadline is missing or seems incorrect.
Use the help or requests section available in your account. Look in the app settings for preferences such as language and notifications. If you need assistance, contact our chatbot or email info@aran-accounting.ie. Someone from our team will get back to you.
04 / For accountants and the team
Use this page when supporting a client. Share the link or download the video and PDF in their preferred language.
For a first introduction, send the video in the client’s preferred language. It takes less than two minutes. Choose portrait for a phone or landscape for a larger screen. Add the PDF when the client would like illustrated instructions to follow.
Confirm their registered email address, enabled features and the menu they see: Documents or Capture. Ask which screen they are on. Guide them through the options actually available in their account.
Ask for the approximate time, the error message and the file type. Check with the client what has already arrived before asking them to resend anything. If a screenshot is needed, ask them to hide personal and banking details that are not relevant to the issue.
Distinguish receipt from accounting review. Check progress before saying that a document has been reviewed, posted or reconciled. If something is missing, explain clearly what the client needs to correct or add.
You can share it as a guide to using Helm. The videos and PDFs use illustrative examples. Check that the instructions match the features available in the client’s account. This page does not replace case-specific advice or internal accounting procedures.
Contact our chatbot or send us an email. Someone from our team will get back to you.
